Larissa Robin Forst (Born August 16, 1997) is an American voice actress, artist, and writer known for voicing Rain Flaherty in Rain: The Animated Series.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Early life[edit | edit source]

As a young child, Larissa recalled an incident at approximately four or five years old, when her uncle discovered a Barbie doll in Lari's possession and teased hher about wanting to be a girl. The experience, while distressing, planted the seeds of doubt and confusion about her gender identity. Larissa could not fully articulate her feelings at the time, though the moment left a lasting impact.

At the age of seven, Larissa began experimenting with clothing traditionally associated with femininity. During a moment of exploration, she discovered items belonging to her older sisters, including undergarments and makeup. Larissa found these items more comfortable and intriguing, but societal norms and familial expectations quickly quelled her curiosity. She was caught by her mother, who dismissed the activity as playful mischief. A subsequent conversation with her father reinforced traditional gender expectations, momentarily suppressing Larissa's budding sense of self.

Foster Care and Continued Struggles[edit | edit source]

Following a period of familial instability, Larissa entered foster care, where her experiences further challenged her sense of identity. Larissa endured teasing from older children in the foster home, who insisted that she "was a girl" and "that doctors had made a mistake." Though Larissa verbally denied their claims, the persistent teasing and exposure to media representations of gender nonconformity, such as a Lifetime movie about a transgender character, reignited feelings of confusion about her identity.

Adolescence and the Emergence of Self-Awareness[edit | edit source]

During puberty, Larissa began to notice physical characteristics that contrasted with traditional expectations of masculinity, such as a curvier figure and a "wasp waist." These observations led to a pivotal moment of self-awareness when Larissa experimented with tucking her body, imagining herself as female. Despite these realizations, societal pressures continued to cause internal conflict. Larissa attempted to mask her feminine traits by overeating.

Throughout her teenage years, Larissa engaged in secretive explorations of her gender identity, occasionally dressing in clothing associated with women. High school brought both challenges and opportunities for expression. A close friendship with a girl led to candid conversations about Larissa’s feelings, culminating in a public yet playful moment where Larissa wore feminine clothing to school as part of a bet. To Larissa's surprise, the experience felt empowering and joyful.

Coming to Terms with Identity[edit | edit source]

By the time Larissa reached young adulthood, she had developed a clearer understanding of her gender identity. She began to embrace the idea of transitioning and considered undergoing gender-affirming procedures. Initially describing her likelihood of transitioning as a "60/40 chance," Larissa’s certainty grew over time, evolving into a 90% likelihood of pursuing a gender transition. Larissa took steps to come out to close friends and family, receiving support from one of her older sisters and others she confided in. However, the prospect of sharing her decision with her parents and closest friends remained daunting. Larissa described the process as emotionally overwhelming, likening it to the release of long-suppressed emotions.
